MOIC (Multiple on Invested Capital)

MOIC expresses total value returned as a simple multiple of the money invested, without regard to time. If you invest $10M and the deal returns $25M, the MOIC is 2.5x. Because it ignores how long the capital was tied up, MOIC is usually reported alongside IRR, which does account for time.
