An operating partner is a hands-on executive at a PE firm, usually a former CEO or functional leader, who works inside portfolio companies to drive performance rather than sourcing deals. They help build management teams, set strategy, and execute the value creation plan. Their operational expertise complements the deal team's financial skills.
